About us
The Flemington Kensington News (FKN) is a not-for-profit community newspaper, run by volunteers and dedicated to sharing stories about the neighbouring suburbs of Flemington and Kensington in inner-western Melbourne, Australia.
We are proud to say the Flem Ken News has been in operation for more than forty years. Through that time the paper has been guided by the following aims:
to encourage a stronger sense of community feeling and involvement in Flemington and Kensington;
to inform people of events, issues and groups in a way which represents the diversity of lifestyles and cultures in the area;
to produce a community newspaper with and for the people of Flemington and Kensington;
to remain a means by which any community member may contribute to the content and production of the paper.
How we operate
The paper is produced by a volunteer editorial team. We publish contributions from volunteers of all walks of life and with all kinds of links to our twin communities. We deliver around 10,000 copies to public spaces, businesses and residences in 3031, and are able to do so because of the generous support of our regular advertisers.

About this site
We started this website in late 2023 to complement the physical paper and house digital versions of back editions. While we won’t run this page like a news site and be publishing regular online content here beyond PDF versions of the quarterly paper, you can check out our Facebook page for more regular updates from the team.
We also wholeheartedly encourage you to check out the other pages under ‘About’ for information on contributing to the paper.
